Insurance IMO
IMO is the acronym for Independent Marketing Organization, many IMO’s work directly with insurance companies to promote and sell their insurance products. There are IMO’s that market via direct mail, by telephone,via internet, by seminar, each company has there way to secure leads which are usually sold to agents working within the IMO.
There are many IMO’s acattered around the country, all of which offer agents such as you or I different contract or commission rates. If you plan to work with an IMO, be sure to shop around for a company that will not only give you a great contract with the insurance carriers that they work with, but also think about product training (is it available), back office accessibility, knowledge of the person you will be working with, source of leads, etc.
We have worked with several IMO’s and ended up going the independent route getting contracted though a General Agency (GA) and securing our own leads in order to gain contract rates at over 100%.
